![]() ![]() but even still, HD copy is a HD copy, shouldn't matter the size unless it's too small. so before it was 50GB, and 2nd time around (even with Window partition) i upsized to 75GB. ![]() the only diff when i did CCC, is that i wanted more space on my OS HD. but CCC definitely worked the second time around. My thought was that using CCC with a partition may have been the problem - can't say that for sure. also didn't go the partition route this time - just a straight backup HD to HD. ![]() but test booting from the CCC source is very important - verify the CCC before doing anything. Recently i upgraded to 10.5.7 - i decided to try CCC again - this time it worked like a charm. I also ended up sorting out my 10.5.6 issue's on the main HD and all was good so i didn't need the CCC backup after all. i ended up wiping the drive and reformating it as one HD (no partition). what i found out on closer inspection, was that parts of the system directory was empty - no files copied ?! also discovered (via Disk Utility) that the partition needed repair. When upgrading from 10.5.4 to 10.5.6 i bought a new WD internal drive partitioned it and then CCC'd the system drive to the smaller side of the partition (note: more than enough to hold all system files) - i upgraded to 10.5.6, but when i had some issues with the upgrade i only then (my bad) tried to boot from the CCC backup - no go - got the ? on boot. ![]()
